Marissa Garcia
Marissa is new to the Cripple Creek stage this year and
is excited to be working on “Under Two Flags.” Marissa is originally
from Tucson, Arizona where she hopes to graduate next year from the University
of Arizona’s BFA Acting program. She has thoroughly enjoyed her experiences
with the Arizona Repertory Theatre where her favorite roles to date have
been as Thomasina in “Arcadia” and Cordelia in “King Lear.” Marissa
would like to thank the Mackins, Dick and the cast for giving her this
opportunity; her friends for all their support; and lastly, her family
for all their love, understanding and guidance. |

Mel J. Moser
Mel returns for his second season with the Cripple Creek
Players and his eighth year performing melodrama in Cripple Creek.
Mel was an actor in the early 80’s for the original melodrama company founded
by Wayne and Dorothy Mackin in l948. He spent the past winter in
his native state of Montana performing in “Our Country’s Good”
and “Max the Knife Salesman”. Mel is glad to be back with returning
actors, Kyra and Mickey, and another summer continuing his deep friendship
with the Mackin Family. Mel is also in his second year as Stage Manager
for the Cripple Creek Players. |
Bert Cecil, the "Beauty of the Brigade"
Mickey Burdick
Mickey Burdick is very happy to be returning to Cripple
Creek this year for his second season of classic Melodrama.
You may remember him as Ned
Singleton from last years production of "My Partner."
Since last season, Mickey has been acting in New York, and some of
his roles include Friar Laurence in a national tour of Romeo and Juliet,
and the Captain of
Balsera in an Off-off-broadway production of Tamburlaine.
Mickey is thrilled to be working with the Mackins again, and with
several of his colleagues and
friends from the University of Arizona, where he received
his BFA a year ago. In his spare time, Mickey enjoys reading, movies, and
writing bio's about himself in the third person. Special thanks to all
of his friends and family for their continual love and support. |
Lord Rockingham, His longtime friend
Ricky Coates
Ricky comes from Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he volunteered
his acting abilities for seven years. Currently, Ricky is working on his
BFA in Acting at the University of Arizona. He recently appeared in Angels
in America as Louis. He has also acted as Hathorne in The Crucible and
Jones in Vortex, and he understudied for Arizona Theater Company's The
Mystery of Irma Vep. He is an avid outdoorsman with high hopes for an acting
future. Ricky would like to thank his family and friends for everything
they give him. |

Matt Bailey
Matt Bailey hails from Palo Alto, California, where he
has lived all of his life. He is currently a student at the University
of Arizona in pursuit of his BFA. He was last seen in the Arizona Repertory
Theatre's production of King Lear. His past favorite roles include Gaveston
(Edward II), and Laertes (Hamlet). He is proud to be making his debut as
a Cripple Creek Player. Thanks Mom. |

Julia Marie Tilley
Julia is currently a student at the University of Arizona
in Tucson where she will be entering into her junior year in the BFA Musical
Theatre program. She has performed in numerous shows and most recently
played Cinderella in Into the Woods with Arizona Reperatory Theatre. She
is thrilled for the opportunity to perform for you this summer and wishes
to send hugs and kisses to her family and friends for their never-ending
love and support. |

Katie Adasek
Katie is entering her senior year at the University of
Colorado in Boulder and is thrilled to be spending her summer as a Cripple
Creek Player. She was born in the nearby town of Woodland Park and
has attended the melodrama ever since she was a little girl. As a
vocal
student of Carolyn Val Schmidt, Katie is excited to continue
her stage career in a place that holds so many memories. Favorite
roles include “Fiddler on the Roof” (daughter) and “Hello, Dolly” (Minnie
Faye). She
gives thanks to the Mackins, her family and friends for
their continued support. |
Rake, manservant and friend to Bert Cecil
Ted Neroda
Ted is thrilled to be a cast member of the Cripple Creek
Players. He is elated to be living in the higher elevations of Colorado
for the summer. Originally a native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ted has been living
in Tucson for four years attending the University of Arizona. Ted
is a member of the Arizona Repertory Theatre Company at the U of A.
As a BFA candidate in
acting/directing, some of his performances include “Crimes
of the Heart”, “Arcadia”, “Measure for Measure” and “Touring Shakespeare”,
an educational show created by Dianne Winslow. Ted would like to
thank his parents for always encouraging him to seek his own way. |
Yussef, an Arab soldier
Aaron M. Stahlecker
This is Aaron’s first season with the Cripple Creek Players.
He will be a sophomore at Valparaiso University in Indiana where he is
a member of the University Chorale, a Theatre and Television Arts Major
and a Vocal Performance Minor. Aaron grew up in the area and is a
2000 graduate of Woodland Park High School. Shows he has been in
include Barnaby Tucker
in “Hello Dolly!”, Linus in “You’re a Good Man Charlie
Brown”, Nicely-Nicely Johnson in “Guys and Dolls”, Leroy in “Bad Seed”
and Polo in “A Hatful of Rain”. Aaron is looking forward to the summer
season and thanks his family for their support. |
Cigarette, a vivandiere and "Soldier of France”
Kyra Lorraine Selman
After portraying the saucy Annabelle Lee (Oh, honey!)
in last year's My Partner, Kyra Lorraine Selman returns to the Cripple
Creek Players for a second consecutive summer. She now calls Chicago home
and has been making her mark on the Windy City's theatre scene. She recently
finished an acclaimed 14 week run of Working with American Theater Company.
Kyra is looking forward to another summer at 9,494 elevation with the Mackins,
Mickey, and Mel and is pleased to be working again with some of her University
of Arizona cohorts. Kyra wishes to thank her friends and family for their
unyielding love and support. |

Producers
Stephen & Bonnie Mackin
Stephen and Bonnie worked with his parents for many years
at the Imperial where Steve did a little bit of everything and Bonnie was
Dorothy and Wayne's personal secretary. They were the hotel and theatre
managers for many years and also had the Crucible Shop on the corner of
3rd & Bennett where Steve made his custom jewelry (he continues jewelry
at the Hospitality House). Their children, Kirk and Stacy, grew up working
at the hotel. Kirk now lives and works in Loveland for BOSE and is married
to Cindy who works in marketing. Stacy has returned to Cripple Creek and
works for the city as manager of the Butte Opera House. Steve and Bonnie
are absolutely thrilled (and a little nervous; a second time) about this
summer adventure and thank you all for being a part of it. |
Musical Director
Josh Lamoreaux
Josh, a student from Tucson, AZ, has just completed his
sophomore year as a BFA Musical Theatre major at the University of Arizona.
His credits at the University include: King Lear (the fool), Into the Woods
(Jack) and Kiss Me, Kate (Chorus). Other theatrical credits include Victory
Productions' West Side Story (Baby John), and Southern Arizona Light Opera
Company's Peter Pan (John Darling). Musical credits include: A Midsummer
Night's Dream (composer, arranger, orchestrator), Into the Woods (musical
director), Friendship: a Musical Revue (arranger, orchestrator, musical
director) and A Children's Fairy Tale Theatre (composer, arranger, orchestrator).
He also serves as a musical director for Kids Unlimited, a children's performing
arts group in Tucson. Josh has also won numerous piano competitions at
the U of A and also Arizona State University. |

Richard Hanson
RICHARD HANSON is an Associate Professor at
the University of Arizona where he heads the Musical
Theatre program. At the University of Arizona, he has
directed and choreographed CHICAGO, FOLLIES,
GREASE, SOUTH PACIFIC, GYPSY, VERY GOOD EDDIE, THE MYSTERY
OF EDWIN DROOD,
OVER HERE, QUILTERS, THE BOY FRIEND, CABARET AND NINE.
Other UA directorial
credits are OTHELLO, CALIGULA, ANATOL and PRESENT LAUGHTER.
He is also the
director and choreographer of THE ENTERTAINERS and ENCORE,
the UA musical revue troupes which are celebrating twenty-one years of
touring and
outreach. Regionally, he has directed MERRILY WE
ROLL ALONG, PETER PAN, ANNIE, BLACK COMEDY, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, THE ODD
COUPLE, THE NERD and BABY. In Tucson, he directs regularly for THE
GASLIGHT THEATRE where he has
directed over twenty productions which include PHANTOM
OF THE OPERA, TREASURE ISLAND, THE THREE MUSKETEERS and A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
For ten seasons, Mr. Hanson directed and choreographed the Olio for
THE IMPERIAL PLAYERS. He is currently the artistic director for Music
Theatre Arizona and directed the premier production of SIDE BY SIDE BY
SONDHEIM. He is looking forward to
directing the MTAZ 2001-2002 season productions of SHE
LOVES ME, JERRY’S GIRLS and ANNIE WARBUCKS He is very excited to
be back in Cripple Creek and is proud to be a part of the second
season of THE CRIPPLE CREEK PLAYERS. |
Assistant to the Producers
Christopher Armbrister
Christopher Armbrister originally hails from a small town
in VA nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Naturally when
he made his first trek to Colorado, a decade ago, to work for Dorothy Mackin
and The
Imperial Players, he fell in love with The Rockies…not
to mention Cripple Creek. Chris spent most of his summers during the first
half of the 90’s performing for Cripple Creek audiences in such shows as
Four Legged
Fortune, The Passion Of Dracula, and Star Crossing as
well as functioning as company manager of The Imperial Players. Last year
Chris returned to this little Gold Camp to assist the Mackins in the mounting
of the
inaugural Cripple Creek Players production of MY PARTNER.
Since he was last here Chris has made his film-directing debut with Elements
Of Society, a feature length project currently being shown at film festivals
across the country, as well as internationally.
So far in 2001 Chris’ new production company, Arthur’s Realm Productions,
has produced three projects, The Wounded Rose, Betrayal, and Stigmatza…all
in association with other Los Angeles based production companies.
Additionally, Arthur’s Realm Productions is currently in development on
two new film
projects, one of which is set in & around Cripple
Creek utilizing the melodrama as a central story facilitator. Arthur’s
Realm Productions, and Chris Armbrister, along with Chris Sorensen (the
writer of the screenplay
and another Cripple Creek melodrama veteran of the early
90’s) hope to shoot on location in Cripple Creek & Victor in 2002. |

Scenic Designer & Artist
Tom Benson
Tom is the resident scenic designer and artist for the Gaslight
Theatre in Tucson. He has designed and painted scenery for theatres from
Vermont to southern California and has taught theatre design at the University
of Arizona and at Pennsylvania State University. He has also worked as
a set designer on the films Posse, Tombstone, and TNT's Buffalo Soldiers.
Recent design work includes The Quilters and They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
for the University of Arizona, and Anything Goes and The Roar of the Greasepaint,
The Smell of the Crowd for the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera. Tom designed
a "baker's dozen" of shows for the Imperial Players over a period of 20
years, starting with Lady Audley's Secret in 1979, two productions of My
Partner, The Passion of Dracula, The Cat and the Canary, and Gaslight.
He also appeared on the Gold Barroom stage as Green Jones in The Ticket
of Leave Man during the summer of 1976. Tom is thrilled to be working with
the Mackins again, but will miss the irreplaceable presence of Dorothy. |
Lighting Designer
David Darland
This is David Darland’s second year as lighting designer
for the Cripple Creek Players. From Shakespeare to Rock and
Roll, David has been designing lights for the past l0 years and is resident
lighting designer for the Gaslight Theatre in Tucson. Favorite shows
include The Sunshine Boys, The Sound of Music, The Playboy of the Western
World, Fortune Rides the Waves, Under Two Flags and Wolfman. David
works full-time as the Stagehand Supervisor and Technical Director at the
Tucson Convention Center, managing a full-service 26-acre arts and
convention facility, music hall and theatre. David would like to
acknowledge his wonderful family, Goldie, KK, Ryan and Zach!

Our Seamstresses, Charlotte Cox and Susan Ward, for their
many hours of hard labor on costumes. Charlotte Cox also has the difficult
task of maintaining the costumes throughout
the summer season and does a wonderful job.

Costume Designer
William Damron Jr.
William Damron, Jr (Costume Designer) received his Master
of Fine Arts, Master of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in costume
design and drama production at the University of Arizona. He has designed
costumes for film, television and theatre from Los Angeles to New York
where he received costume credit for The Babe. Other credits include
teaching, acting, directing and/or costume design for many theatres, among
them The University of Redlands, Columbia Community College and Glendale
Centre Theatre in California; The University of Arizona, The Gaslight Theatre,
Arizona Civic Theatre in Tucson, Arizona; Meadows Playhouse in Las Vegas,
Nevada and The Imperial Players of Cripple Creek, Colorado (22 seasons).
Bill lives in the Los Angeles area where he works in Wardrobe. This year
marks Bill's 25th summerin Cripple Creek! |
Marketing
Ruth Zirkle
Ruth has been a Colorado resident since 1986 when she moved
here to work as a journalist. Ruth fell in love with the mountains and
the historic communities of Victor and Cripple Creek. She worked as the
editor of the Ute Pass Courier and Gold Rush newspapers for nine years,
attending and reviewing the Imperial Players productions. In 1995 she left
journalism to explore the great state of Alaska and in 1996 she returned
to her home in Victor, where she operates her own marketing, photography
and internet web design business. Ruth is very happily married to Jon Zalewski.
Together they enjoy hiking, traveling and spending time with their dog
CB. Ruth is proud to be a part of the Cripple Creek Players premier season.
She wishes the very best of everything to longtime friends Steve and Bonnie
in their venture in Cripple Creek’s grand Butte Opera House! |

Rick Koehn
Lighting Director
This is Rick’s second year with the Cripple Creek Players!
He is a certified concert lighting director with over twenty years in the
business and also has an associates degree in electronics. Rick has
lived in Cripple Creek for eight years with his wife Michelle and two children. |
Jordan Arrick
Lighting Assistant
Jordan is pleased to be working with Rick Koehn as his assistant
and also as an understudy for the show. He is a l999 graduate of
Cripple Creek-Victor High School and currently a theatre major at UCCS.
He has performed “Green Eggs and Ham” on Dr. Seuss Day 200l, played Petrucio
in Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” and Roberto in Ariel Dorfman’s “Death
and the Maiden”. |

Technical Director
Gerard Kelty
This is Gerard's first show in Cripple Creek.
A busy scenic carpenter, He began his career at the Gaslight Theatre in
Tucson, Arizona and has since worked on projects all over the U.S. and
abroad. His recent projects include the feature film, "Arac
Attack, and "Animation Celebration" at Universal Studios, Japan.
Stacy Mackin - Butte Opera House Manager
Stacy is one of the few true locals of Cripple Creek having
been born and raised here. Stacy graduated from Colorado State University
with a BA in Liberal Arts, and minors in Anthropology and History.
Being a history person, Stacy is pleased to be helping bring melodrama
back to Cripple Creek and enjoys her new career as Butte Opera House Manager
and working with the City of Cripple Creek. Her new career makes
her the third generation of Mackin's to do theatre in Cripple Creek.
Stacy wishes to thank her parents for their support and her grandparents
for bringing melodrama to Cripple Creek 55 years ago. |
Dialect Coach
Dianne J. Winslow
Dianne is a Professor of Theatre Arts at the University of
Arizona in Tucson where she teaches Voice and Movement and Period Styles
with an emphasis in Shakespeare. As the Voice and Movement coach for ART
(Arizona Repertory Theatre) she trains actors in the BFA and MFA professional
programs. She is the originator/director of Touring Shakespeare, an educational
entertainment that has traveled in and out of the state of Arizona to perform
in Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, Los Angeles and Monterrey, Mexico and
the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. As a Voice Specialist
her professional activities include dialect coaching for professional theatres,
vocal coaching and education for national organizations and legal institutions.
Outside the world of theatre she consults on matters of voice and performance
for judges, attorneys, court interpreters and a wide variety of other working
professionals. Dianne is a member of VASTA, the professional Voice and
Speech Trainer's Association, SAG, Screen Actors Guild and the Association
for Theatre in Higher Education. |
